Doris Fennell Flanigan Rumsey

Mrs. Doris Fennell Flanagan Rumsey, age 89. Of West Currahee Street in Toccoa went to be with The Lord on Saturday, March 3, 2018. She passed away at Stephens County Hospital in Toccoa.

A daughter of the late Prelo and Emmaline Horn Fennell, she was born October 21, 1928 in Habersham County, Ga. having lived most of her life in Stephens County, Ga. She was the owner and operator of Parkway Florist in Toccoa for many years, was of the Baptist faith, and a loving mother and grandmother that most everyone called Maw. Mrs. Rumsey loved playing bingo, going to the casino, word search puzzles, racing, and being in charge of hospitality at the Alabama Association of Polygraph Examiners Convention. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Jimmie Flanagan and also by her second husband, Johnny Rumsey.

Mrs. Rumsey is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Tracie Flanagan of Toccoa and Gloria and Brad York of Toccoa, two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmie Flanagan and Debbie St John of Mobile, Alabama and Tony and Midnitte Flanagan of Demorest, Ga., grandchildren, Alex Flanagan, Katie Flanagan and Nolan Anglin, Kelly and Dustin Randolph, Patrick and Tanya Flanagan, Richard and Shannon York, Renee York, Brian Freeman, Brandi Freeman and Chad Harrelson, and Danielle Roach, by special friends, Herbert McCants, Connie Johnson, Johnny Mize, and J.L. and Betty Browner, and by several great grandchildren and nieces, and nephews.  

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. from the Hillcrest Chapel of The Acree-Davis Funeral Home with Reverend Brandon Crunkleton officiating. Steve “Hot Rod” Lamance and Midnitte Flanagan will also be speaking at the service.

The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers and will please assemble at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home by 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, Patrick Flanagan, Alex Flanagan, Richard York, Brian Freeman, Mike Fennell, Tim Fennell, Jerry Sullins, and J.L. Browner. Members of the Alabama Association of Polygraph Examiners will serve as honorary escorts.

The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at The Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Please visit www.acree-davisfh.com to leave a condolence for the Rumsey family.
