Hilda H. Cox, 93, of Dawsonville passed away Sunday February 25, 2018 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness.
Born July 24, 1924 to the late Bill and Ludie Hogan in Rebecca, Georgia, Hilda had been a resident of Dawsonville since 1982, coming from Dekalb County. Ms. Cox retired after teaching in Georgia Public School Systems for 32 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Dawsonville where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and was very active in other church activities. For many years she was a member of the Dawson County Woman’s Club and Dawson County Chamber of Commerce. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Olin Cox and three siblings.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Rick Medlock, Dawsonville; Ricky Cox, Auburn, GA; granddaughters, Regina Medlock, Dawsonville, Rhonda and Michael Heide, New York; great-grandchildren, Briana Paxton, Nikolas and Brooke Medlock, Kaitlyn Paxton, Michael T. Heide; great-great-grandson, Tyler Sperry; special niece, Ragen Medlock; other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Thursday March 1, 2018 at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Dawsonville. Dr. Jim Gaines will officiate. Interment will follow in Dawsonville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday February 28 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.
