Richard E. Tyler

Richard E. Tyler, age 79, of Buford, GA passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlos, and mother, Christelle Barfield; and brother, Briggs Tyler. Mr. Tyler is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Jeri Hatcher Tyler, Buford, GA; children, Brett and Andrea Tyler, Cumming, GA, and Kelli and Christopher Wilson, Peachtree City, GA; grandchildren, Colin Tyler, Ryan Tyler, Logan Wilson, Molly Wilson, and Hannah Wilson; sister, Elizabeth “Beth” Pitcher, Sarasota, FL; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Maryann Tyler, Roswell, GA; sister-in-law, Joanne Tyler, Marietta, GA; brothers-in-law, Joe and Barbara Hatcher, Helen, GA, Doug and Jami Fox, Dacula, GA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Tyler was born September 20, 1938 in Hahira, GA. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a 1956 graduate of Hahira High School in Hahira, GA and received his Associate’s degree from Southern Tech. Mr. Tyler was a retired commercial builder from Lisle Associates with over twenty years of service. He was a member of Hebron Baptist Church in Dacula, GA and became a Deacon will attending First Baptist Church in Buford. Richard was very active in sports as a coach for various little league baseball and basketball teams. He was an avid golfer and after suffering a debilitating stroke 20 years ago, he continued playing using only one hand. Using God’s strength he taught himself to drive and worked with his tractor on the farm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Ivy Creek Baptist Church in Buford, GA with Dr. Craig Dale, Rev. Jerry Tyler, and Rev. Larry Wynn officiating. Interment will follow at Ivy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening, February 23, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Flanigan Funeral Home in Buford.
