John D. Scholl

John D. Scholl of Cumming, GA. born August 3, 1923 in Laporte, IN to John and Margaret (Steinfeldt) Scholl, married Winifred V. Jourdain, who preceded him in death , at LaPorte December 5, 1946.  Three daughters, Judith Lee, of Chicago, Jean (Raymond) Berg, and Jane (Lawrence) French both of Cumming.  Three grandsons, one granddaughter one great granddaughter and two great grandsons.  One son, John Daniel Scholl, one granddaughter, Margaret Vail and a sister, Marjorie Borns, preceded him in death.

He was the owner and manager of Scholl Dairy in LaPorte until 1964, a graduate of Spartan School of Aeronautical Engineering in Tulsa, OK, a licensed real estate broker and veteran of the US Army Air Corps World War II.

He was a member of the American Legion, Knights of Columbus and Coast Guard Auxiliary with whom he once manned a lighthouse in the Dry Tortugas.  He was a past President of the Kiwanis, LaPorte Jaycees and the LaPorte Aviation Commission. 

He traveled extensively throughout the world for business and pleasure.

Visitation will be on Wednesday February 21st from 6-8pm at McDonald and Son Funeral home. Funeral Mass will be at Good Shepard Catholic Church on Thursday February 22 at 11am. Interment will be on Saturday February 24 at 3pm cst at Oak Grove Cemetery in Mill Creek, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to either Good Shepard Church or The Coast Guard Auxiliary (Lake Lanier Chapter).
