Ralph Roper, age 89, and a lifelong resident of Cumming, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2018. Ralph spent 2 years in the United States Army. He retired from Georgia Tech after 32 years. He loved gardening and riding on his tractor. Ralph was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Pam Wilson; brothers, Holbert Roper, Egbert Roper, sisters, Shirley Gurley, Peggy Roper.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Roper; children, Johnny (Barbara) Roper, Sherry (Glenn) Anderson, Sonya (Mike) Johnson; son-in-law, Bobby Wilson; step-daughter, Carol (David) Edwards; sisters, Inez Chadwick, Fairy Higgins; brothers, Marcus Roper, Eddy Roper; grandchildren, Mandy Roper (Aaron Sago), Nickolas (Amiee) Roper, Emily Davis (Josh), Matthew Anderson, Amber Wilson, Nathaniel Anderson; 6 great-grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives also survive.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 16th at 11:00 am at Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Richards, Rev. Jamie Sanford and Rev. Clyde Boling officiating. Interment will follow in Sawnee View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home on Thursday from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm and on Friday from 9:00 am until hour of the service.
