Margaret Shope Murphy

Margaret Shope Murphy, 82 of Gainesville passed away Tuesday February 13, 2018.

A lifelong resident of Hall County, Mrs. Murphy was the daughter of the late John Byrd and Roxie Goudelock Shope.  She had worked for a number of years as the head teller at Citizens Bank and was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sisters, Imogene Barnes, Gainesville; Lillian Gilreath, Gainesville; Estelle Shope, Tucson, Arizona; Mary Whelchel, Gainesville and Blairsville; step-sons, Mike Murphy and David Murphy, both of Gainesville; Patricia Talmadge, Jonesboro; sister-in-law, Mary Jo Shope, Gainesville; 9 step grandchildren 4 step great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Mrs. Murphy is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dee Murphy; brothers, J.B. Shope, W.F. "Dick" Shope, sisters, Annie Wheeler and Faye Davidson Whitmire.

Memorial services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Saturday February 17, 2018 in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home.  Rev. Maxey Ladd will officiate.  The family will receive friends Saturday February 17, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked the memorial contributions be made to Pruitt Health Hospice, 700 South Enota Drive, Suite 202, Gainesville, Ga. 30501 in memory of Mrs. Murphy.
