James Ralph “Jim” Galloway, age 73 of Cornelia, Georgia passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at his residence following an extended illness.
Born in Blairsville, Georgia on February 27, 1944, he was a son of the late James Weldon Galloway & Angie Lee Odom Galloway. Mr. Galloway was a retired machine operator with Hormel Foods after 25 years of dedicated service. He also owned & operated J & D Refuge Sanitation for over 10 years. Mr. Galloway enjoyed Old Western movies, watching wrestling, good cooking, and especially time with his family. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Diana Sue “Cookie” Lewis Galloway, son, Craig Allen Galloway, grandsons, Nick Housholder & Nathan Baisden, sister, Shelby Jean Kimbrell, & brother, Donald Edward Galloway.
Survivors include his son, Brian James Galloway of Douglasville, GA; James Ralph “Jimmy” Galloway, Jr., Eddie Galloway, brother, Andrew “Andy” Galloway of Robbinsville, NC; sisters & brothers-in-law, Maxine Galloway of Cornelia, GA; Pat & Harold Elsea of Columbus, GA; Martha & Henry Williamson, Mary & Stan Brotherton both of Clarkesville, GA; Sheila Galloway, Sarah Galloway, grandchildren, Sebastian Galloway of Toccoa, GA; Savannah Mabry of Athens, GA; 6 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, & friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2018 from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with Rev. Phillip Yarber officiating. Interment will follow in Fairfield Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
