Frances “Fran” Westbrook Lenoir Stewart, age 92 of Flowery Branch, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2018.
Born on October 14, 1925, in New Augusta, Mississippi to the late Rev. Hilary S. Westbrook and Irene Elizabeth Edwards Westbrook. She met George W. Lenoir on the steps of Muddy Springs Methodist Church in Magnolia, Mississippi. Her father, Rev. Hilary S. Westbrook, was the pastor at the time. Fran was a longtime member of the Magnolia Garden Club, the Twentieth Century Club and the Order of the Eastern Star serving as Worthy Grand Matron. She also served as a Girl Scout Leader. Fran was very active in the Magnolia United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir.
Her favorite hobbies and activities over the years included serving, reading, knitting, crocheting, playing the piano and gardening. Fran enjoyed her employment as a floral designer. After her husband’s death, she moved to Georgia to be near her daughters. She met her present husband, Phillip Stewart, and joined the Flowery Branch United Methodist Church where she played the organ. Fran will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, George W. Lenoir; brothers, David S. Westbrook and John Paul Westbrook; sons-in law, Clifford N. Kelley, Sr. and James “Jack” Beachem; grandson, Nickolas Stephen Shigley.
Survivors include her husband, Phillip L. Stewart; daughters, Anita Lenoir Kelley, Sheree E. Lenoir and Martha L. Beachem; grandson and spouse, Michael T. & Michelle Shigley; granddaughters, Courtney Escobar and Natalie Escobar; great granddaughters, Rachel, Rebekah & Abigail Shigley.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
