Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. William Howard Tate, age 93 of Eastman, Georgia who entered into rest Tuesday, February 6, 2018. Mr. Tate was born in Anderson, South Carolina a son of the late Thomas and Julia Hulsey Tate and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Eastman. Mr. Tate was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of World War II and the Korean War and was the last surviving member of his immediate family having been preceded by his parents, thirteen brothers and sisters and a grandson, Jeffrey Tate.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Smith Tate of Eastman, son, Johnny Tate and his wife Nancy of South Carolina, son, Fred Tate of Pendergrass, daughter, Jan Roberts of Florida, sons, David Tate of Pendergrass and Danny Tate of Mississippi, daughters, Sheryl Knapp of Florida, and Jacqueline Rac and her husband Wayne of Florida, and son, Kevin Godfrey of Alpharetta. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 8, 2018 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Reverend George Thomasson officiating with burial to follow in Mountain Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Pendergrass, Georgia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service 10:00 – 11:00 A.M..
