Betty Louise Young, 86, of Cumming, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 31, 2018.
Betty was born in Logansport, Indiana on February 14, 1931 to the late Alfred Pearson Lovell and Louise Koch Lovell.
She graduated from Logansport High School and was crowned Homecoming Queen in 1949.
Betty married Frank Ronald (Ron) Young on November 26, 1950 and lived in Bradenton, Florida until moving to Atlanta, Georgia in 1968 and then to Cumming, Georgia in 1989.
Betty was President of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority City Council in Bradenton, Florida and named Girl of the Year in 1963, 1964, 1965, 1967 and 1968.
She was active in golf at Polo Golf & Country Club in Cumming, Georgia and was the Woman’s Golf Association Club Champion in 1991 and their Woman’s Golf Association President in 1992.
Betty was a devoted wife to a wonderful husband, a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She had a very happy family life with special friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Louise Lovell and her sister, Marilyn Norzinskay.
She is survived by her husband Ron Young, sons Donald Alfred Young (Christine) and Gary Lee Young (Vicki), grandchildren Wendy Anthony (Russ), Bryan Young (Ginny), Nathan Young (Tanya) and Julie Beattie (Jason); great grandchildren, Anna and Davis Young; Talley, Lilly and Koch Young; Chandler and Addison Beattie and Reese Anthony.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 4pm in the chapel of the McDonald and Son Funeral Home in Cumming, Georgia. The family will receive friends from 3pm to 4pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in Betty’s honor to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
