Ellen Johnson, 75, of Dawsonville passed away Monday January 22, 2018 at her residence following a sudden illness.
Ms. Johnson was born June 19, 1942 to the late Sam and Sylvia Gayton in Ellijay, Georgia. Formerly of Cumming, she had been a resident of Dawsonville for over 30 years. Ellen was a member of Silver City Baptist Church and worked as the cafeteria manager at Blacks Mill Elementary School until her retirement. Always loving and devoted to her family, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Garrett, and stepdaughters, Carolyn Daniel and Jackie Pickering.
Surviving are her sister, Martha Pickering, Dawsonville; grandchildren, Stacie and Kevin Tanner, Dawsonville, Tyler and Felicia Tinsley, Dawsonville, Missy and Kenneth Wallace, Cumming; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Abbie, Chloe, Yenni and Gavin; great-great-grandchildren, Nate, Brooke, Jayden; special nephew, David Pickering, Dawsonville; special friend, Pat Gillian, Dawsonville; stepdaughter, Jan Rigdon; other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Thursday January 25, 2018 at 3 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Scott Sorrells, Rev. Stephen Davis and Rev. Brady Holbrook will officiate. Interment will follow in Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday January 24 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
