Lily Dale Jones Dunson

Mrs. Lily Dale Jones Dunson, age 90, of Cawthon Road in Toccoa passed away Thursday, January 18, 2017 at the home.

A daughter of the late Cofer Verdell and Ollie Olivia Ferguson Jones, she was born April 3, 1927in Banks County, Georgia and lived in Stephens County for most of her life. She was retired from Coats and Clark after forty years of service, was a member of First United Methodist Church of Toccoa, and a member of the Rhoades Sunday School Class at 1st UMC. Mrs. Dunson was among the first four members of the PBX Club. Also, her family owned and operated Currahee Apple Orchard for years. She loved working out at the orchard. She is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Dunson, Sr., by three brothers, Roy Jones, Elmo Jones, and Harold Jones, and by a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Scott Dunson.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Dunson Smith and Tom Smith of Florida, two sons and a daughter-in-law, Marvin S. Dunson, Jr. and Joan Dunson of Toccoa and William Jackson Dunson of Toccoa, seven grandchildren, Angela Bennett, Bryon Smith, Will Dunson, Andy Dunson, Marvin S. “Trey” Dunson the III, Ashley Dunson, Benjamin Dunson, seven great grandchildren, a brother William Jones of Lula, Ga., sisters and sons-in-law, Edna Jones Sailor and John Sailor and Olivia Jones Brady and Marvin Brady all of Toccoa, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 21, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. from the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Teddy Baker, and Reverend Jerrell Beatty officiating.

The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers, Ben Dunson, Marvin Trey Dunson, Logan Bennett, Bryon Smith, and Rusty Jones. Members of the PBX Club will serve as honorary escort.

The family will be at the home on Cawthon Road in Toccoa and will receive friends at Acree-Davis from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M Saturday and from 12:00 Noon until the service time Sunday.
