Alan Jonathan Wimpy “Jon” of Palmetto, FL, passed away on his 54th birthday, January 17, 2018 at Tidewell Hospice in Ellenton, Florida. Jon was the owner of Appalachian Material Service. Jon is survived by wife, Jamie Wimpy; parents, Al & Ann Wimpy of Dahlonega, Georgia; daughter, Casey Schneider; 3 grandsons, Jack, Guy, and Dean Schneider of Bradenton, FL; step son, Race Foster; sister, Katherine Carey; niece, Ruthie Carey; nephew, Henry Carey of Mt. Pleasant, SC; Dog, Callaway; 7 uncles; 9 aunts, and 25 cousins.
Jon was happiest being on the water. He will be remembered most for his generous spirit and compassionate heart. He never met a stranger. Generous to a fault, he was loved by ALL.
Funeral services will be Tuesday January 23, 2018 at 2pm in the chapel of Dahlonega Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 1pm until service time. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Dahlonega.
