Kathryn Yarber Hix

Kathryn Yarber Hix, age 86, of Alto, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018.

Mrs. Hix was born in Baldwin, Georgia, on September 8, 1931; a daughter of the late Pernell and Selma Gosnell Yarber. She was also preceded in death by her son, Melvin Kimbrell; brothers: Ernest, Roy, Henry, and Robert Yarber; sisters: Pearl Coffee, Montine Wood, Edith Mae Norman, and Mary Holcomb. Mrs. Hix worked at Riegel, now known as Mt. Vernon Mills, and Clarkesville Mills. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church and attended Alto Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and David Abernathy of Alto; son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Janie Swinehart of Baldwin; son, Bobby Robinson of Cumming; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 21, 2018, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia, with Rev. Raymond Payne and Rev. Sanford Kimbrell officiating. Interment will follow in Welcome Home Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Billy Burrell officiating.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 pm on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at the funeral home.
