Harold Emory Major, 84, of Cumming passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018. A Forsyth County native, Harold retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation as a Civil Engineer and enjoyed working on lawnmowers and small engines. He was an active 50 year member of Lafayette Lodge #44 F&AM, serving as Worshipful Master in 1969; Past High Priest of Silver Shoals Chapter #14, Royal Arch Masons, Yaarab Shriners and Pleasant View Baptist Church. Harold is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Katherine Bales Major; parents, H.C. and Ina Mae Major; brother, Jimmy C. Major; and nephew, Anthony Godfrey.
Survivors include his daughters, Sheila Mastrangelo of Dunwoody, Debbie (Mark) Temple of Cumming; grandchildren, Mandy (Gary) Heath, Aaron Temple; great grandchildren, Shellbi Ryder, Marcus Heath, Jacob Heath; great great granddaughter, Bridget Ryder; sister, Helen (John) Dickson of Marietta; brother, Donald (Millie) Major of Cumming; sister-in-law, Jane Major; several nieces and a nephew.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 21, at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant View Baptist Church with Rev. Bud Sutton officiating. Interment, with Masonic Rites, will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
