Antonia Sica

Obituary Date: Wednesday, January 3, 2018

Antonia Sica of Flowery Branch passed away on January 3, 2018 at the age of 94.  She is predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Bill, her parents, Onofio and Agostina, her sister, Mae, and her brothers, Vito and James.

She is survived by her sister, Margaret, her son & daughter-in-law, Sam & Joan Sica of Gainesville, and her daughter & son-in-law of Flowery Branch, Tina & Tom Fay; her six grandchildren, Laura Wriggins of Delaware, Kristin Galasso of Flowery Branch, Catherine Pekula of New Jersey, Jeanne Marie Green of Maryland, Tom Fay of Ohio, and Samantha Nelson of California.  She was blessed with ten great grandchildren, Jack & Lainey Wriggins, Rebecca, Tyler, and Jason Galasso, Kennedy, Nicholas, and Avery Pekula, and Nathan and Susannah Green, as well as numerous nieces & nephews.

Antonia was unique for in her life she went by many names: Antonia, Ann, Antoinette, and the titles of Darling Wife, Mom, Grandma, Nanny, GG, and Aunt Nenay.  She was born and grew up in Brooklyn, NY and was the youngest of five children.  She also lived in Queens, NY, Maywood, NJ, and in Georgia for the last few years.  She was outgoing, peppy, and had an unbelievable zest for life which defined her throughout her life.  Up until the end we called her the “energizer bunny.”  She had a saying, “If you think you are old, then you will get old.” She epitomized the strength of the WWII generation.

Her loves in life included being with children, dancing, acting in plays, and in later years, crocheting.  Many of her afghans are treasured and used today by her family.  While Antonia was in elementary and high school she participated in every play and loved it.  Her mother asked her why she was in all the plays.  Antonia told her that her teachers selected her but truth be told she signed-up on her own.

Now that she is with God she may be able to be that fashion designer, early education teacher, actress, and play director that she always dreamed of being.

Per Antonia’s wishes, she was cremated and will be laid to rest with her husband at the George Washington Cemetery in Paramus, NJ sometime this spring.  Prior to interment she will be remembered with a memorial mass at Our Lady Queen of Peace in Maywood, NJ.
