Funeral services for Willis Howard Thomason, age 82, of Mt. Airy will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Chris York, Rev. Connie Berry, and Rev. Chris Webb officiating. Interment will follow the service in Hillside Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Thomason passed away January 7, 2018 following an extended period of declining health.
Born in Franklin County on July 1, 1935, Mr. Thomason was the son of the late Omer Willis and Ruth Langston Thomason. Mr. Thomason was a veteran having served honorably with the Georgia National Guard. He was retired from Habersham Electric Membership Corporation with 40 years of faithful service. Mr. Thomason was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Carnesville and attended Antioch Baptist Church for over 56 years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Thomason is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Evelyn Franklin Thomason, daughter Janet Thomason Parham, brothers Bobby Joe Thomason and Billy Joe Thomason, father in law and mother in law Arlin and Cleo Jameson Franklin, sister in law Josephine Adams Franklin, and brothers in law Douglas H. Franklin, Bill Glore, and Lee Sellers.
Survivors include son and daughter in law Jerry and Teresa Thomason of Mt. Airy, son in law Larry C. Parham of Mt. Airy, granddaughters Julia and James Braswell of Mt. Airy, Andrea Thomason of Mt. Airy and Brittany Jan Parham of Mt. Airy, great grandchildren Chloe and Colton Braswell of Mt. Airy, brother and sister in law Melvin and Mary Belle Thomason of Carnesville, sisters in law Joyce Glore of Cornelia, Dorothy Sellers of Cornelia, Jimmie Sue Franklin of Clarkesville, brother in law Ernest Franklin of Demorest, brothers in law and sisters in law Ray and Maxine Rice of Cornelia, Rev. Kenneth and Marilyn Franklin of Cleveland and Johnny and Karen Franklin of Mt. Airy, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, January 12, 2018 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
