Frank Young Edmonds

Dr. Frank Young Edmonds, age 93, of Harris Street in Toccoa passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Stephens County Hospital.

A son of the late James Willie and Letha Kirby Edmonds, he was born December 9, 1924 in Stephens County, Georgia where he lived most of his life. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, World War II. He received his Doctorate from Lincoln Chiropractic College in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was a Doctor of Chiropractic in Toccoa for 43 years. He was a member of the Toccoa Presbyterian Church, the Men’s Bible Sunday School Class and a Deacon and Elder of the Church, a life member of the V.F.W. Post 4346 and a member of Toccoa Lions Club since 1955. He was a volunteer with Toccoa Soup Kitchen and the Habitat Humanity Store. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Connie Walters, Stella Meeks and Sally Kristad and by three brothers, Paul Edmonds, Joe Edmonds and J.B. Edmonds.

Survivors include his wife of the home, Phyllis Cochran Edmonds; three sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Thomas and Cindy Edmonds of Birmingham, Alabama, Michael and Smita Edmonds of Greenville, South Carolina and Dr. Robert and Terry Edmonds of Toccoa; four grandsons and two granddaughters; seven great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 9, 2018, 1 O’clock p.m. at Toccoa Presbyterian Church with The Reverend Paul Rettew officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers, Alan Edmonds, Bryan Edmonds, Jason Smith, Luke Smith, Chris Edmonds and Mark Edmonds. The Men’s Bible Sunday School Class and the Toccoa Lions Club will serve as honorary escort and should assemble at the church by 12:30 p.m.

The family will be at the home on Harris Street and will receive friends at The Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Monday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Online condolences can be made at www.acree-davisfh.com.
