James Carlton Jarrell, Jr., age 88 of Clarkesville, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, January 03, 2018 following an extended illness.
Born in Clarkesville, Georgia on June 25, 1929, he was a son of the late James Carlton Jarrell & Bessie Nicholson Jarrell. James served his country proudly in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict & the Cuban Missile Crisis. Upon retiring from the military, Mr. Jarrell began his career in Law Enforcement in various capacities with Habersham County and retired with over 30 years of dedicated service. He was also a retired minister. James was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Libby Caudell, son, Jamie Jarrell, sister, Bertie Lee DeMore, & brother, Kenneth Jarrell.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah & Hugh Isbell of Eastanollee, GA; Peggy & David Cheek of Marietta, GA; son & daughter-in-law, Tommy & Beth Jarrell of Eastanollee, GA; son-in-law, Charles Caudell of Martin, daughter-in-law, Virginia Jarrell of Homer, GA; sister, Barbara Grant of Clarkesville, GA; 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and his faithful companion & dog, Beau Jarrell.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 05, 2018 from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Grizzle & Rev. Brandon Crunkleton officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the United States Navy.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. & 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
