A son of Agnes Harbert McAvoy Woods and the late John Dillard McAvoy, Sr., he was born May 20, 1963 in Stephens County where he lived all of his life. He was employed with Athens Y Camp for a long number of years and was of the Baptist faith. He loved motorcycles and loved to use his skills to help others.
Survivors include his wife Shannon Bailey McAvoy of the home, mother and step-father Agnes Harbert Woods (Woody), daughter Fannie Sage McAvoy, two sons and daughters- in- law, Jake (Megan) McAvoy all of Toccoa, GA , Eli (Ansley) McAvoy of Young Harris, GA, grandchildren Emma Jean McAvoy, Ava Rose McAvoy, Ella Wren McAvoy, Ryker Pace Lambert, McKenna Grace Roberson, Cash Cohen Roberson and three more grandchildren on the way, brothers, Ron McAvoy of Eastanollee, GA, John McAvoy of Gumlog, GA, Ronnie McAvoy of Louisiana, and a sister Misty Allen of Toccoa.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Sunday, December 31, 2017 at the Chapel of the Athens Y Camp for Boys in Tallulah Falls, GA, with the Reverend Jerrell Beatty officiating.
