Bertha Jones

August 6th, 1932 – December 27th, 2017

But the particulars of Bertha’s appearance on earth and her departure from it do not define her contributions to it.

Bertha was a tireless worker in the Church. She was active in GAs and WMU for most of her adult life. One of her favorite areas of service was the encouragement of the elderly. She would regularly visit them and bring them her smile, the comfort of her voice and something delicious to brighten their day. She taught Bible studies for children, youth and in later life, senior adults as a part of her ongoing Church service.

Bertha was also a devoted grandmother, mother and wife. Her two grandsons Ian and Shane were the light of her life. And she leaves behind two wonderful daughters Pamela and Paula who both share her strong love of family and friends. And we cannot forget Bob Jones, the love of her life, for whom she left her native Mt Home Arkansas to join him in Gainesville Georgia. And here in her adoptive home, she has made many friends who have become a part of her extended family, an ever-widening circle of love that continued to grow throughout her life.

We will all miss her, but we know that she has gone to her heavenly home, and today, she is celebrating with her friends and family who have gone before all the while never forgetting the family and friends that she left behind. Bertha was especially close to her brothers and sisters that she grew up with in Mt Home Arkansas, and though she had been transplanted to Georgia, she always stayed in touch with the family that she grew up with in Mt Home.

Bertha is survived by her husband, Robert “Bob” Jones, her daughters Pamela Rogers and Paula Bagley, her two grandsons Ian Rogers and Shane Driscoll as well as a sister, Ima McKee, and three brothers Arvil, David and Hiram Tucker Jr. She is preceded in death by her parents Hiram and Rena Tucker, sisters Velma Bell, Inez Summers and brothers Grady, Rex and Leon Tucker.

The visitation will be held on Friday, December 29th, 6pm – 8pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 30th 2pm. Services will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home, Main Chapel, 2030 Memorial Park Road, Gainesville, GA 30504.
