Evans Funeral Home announces the death of William Ray Turner, Sr., age 76 of Jefferson, Georgia who entered into rest Tuesday, December 26, 2017. Mr. Turner was born in Portsmouth, Virginia a son of the late Everett Earle Turner and the late Virginia Vorstine Hunt Turner. Mr. Turner served his country in the U.S. Army, was a life member of the D.A.V, American Legion, VFW, Weekend Gold Miners, was of the Presbyterian Faith and was retired from Public Safety, having worked at the Jackson County 911 Center.
Survivors include his wife, Betty McCreery Turner of Jefferson. Daughter, Katherine Turner of Jefferson, son, William Ray Turner, Jr. and his wife Whitney of Gainesville, brother, Linwood Earle Turner of Colorado. Grandaughters; Jessica Grizzard of Lawrenceville, Anna Hocking of Athens, Makenna Conner of Gainesville and Libby Turner of Gainesville. Grandsons; Stewart Elliott of Jefferson, and Wesley Turner of Jefferson. Three great grandchildren also survive.
The family will receive friends, 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to vetdogs.org, and memories left with website. Inurnment will be held with Military Honors at a later date at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, Georgia.
