Joyce Wallace, 86, of Dawsonville passed away Monday December 25, 2017 at New Horizons Lanier Park following a period of declining health.
Born November 5, 1931 to the late Homer and Annice Grogan, Joyce was a lifelong resident of Dawson County. A homemaker at her death, she formerly worked with her family at Ronald’s and then Shirley’s ladies apparel in Gainesville. Along with her husband, they founded the Country Cupboard food store chain. Mrs. Wallace was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dawsonville and was also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Billy Wallace; grandchildren, Amy Wallace and Jonathan Mansfield; sisters, Modree Bowers, Shirley “Charlie” Strong, Patsy Clegg; and brother in law, Sherman Wallace.
Surviving are her children, David and Andrea Wallace, Past Christian, MS, Russ and Jennifer Wallace, Dahlonega, Carol Wallace Mansfield, Atlanta; grandchildren, Travis Johnson, Will Wallace, Adam Johnson, Ashley Keeton, Taylor Wallace, Greer Mansfield, David Mansfield; 4 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters in law, Keith and Lidia Grogan, Gainesville, Rex and Mildred Grogan, Cornelia; sisters in law and brothers in law, Edwina Wallace, Dalton, Gail and Wayne Wright, Dawsonville, Bud Clegg, Dahlonega; and a number of other relatives.
Private interment services will be held at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
Memorial services will be held Thursday December 28, 2017 at 3 o’clock at the First Baptist Church of Dawsonville. Dr. Jim Gaines will officiate.
