D. J. Thompson, age 78, of Winder, GA passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2017. He was preceded in death by his wife of thirty-three years, Clara Boggs Thompson; parents, John and Louise Bruce Thompson; and brother, Elton Thompson. He is survived by his children, Gary Thompson, Carrie Heupel, Winder, GA and Sherry Thompson, Winder, GA; grandchildren, Alexis Heupel, Justin Heupel and R. J. Heupel; sisters and brothers-in-law, Peggy and Jerry Ethridge, Buford, GA, Kathryn Moon, Winder, GA, Joan and Randy Sanders, Buford, GA, Brenda and Toby Lindeland, Hiawassee, GA, Paulette Thompson Bailey, Jefferson, GA, Jean and Rudolph Pruett, Hoschton, GA, Deborah and David Bennett, Lawrenceville, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy and Diane Thompson, Jefferson, GA, Raymond Thompson, Buford, GA and Ricky and Becky Thompson, Buford, GA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Thompson was born August 10, 1939 in Duluth, GA. He was retired from Gwinnett County, Road Maintenance Department, with twenty-eight and a half years of service. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Bailey and Rev. Charles Spruill officiating. Interment will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Duluth, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
