John “David” Beard

John “David” Beard, after an extended illness, entered peacefully into the arms of Jesus on December 21 with his devoted wife of 52 years, Janice Smith Beard, by his side. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Beard Rounds, parents: Mildred and Billy Beard; brother, Nathan Beard. He is survived by his daughter and son in law, Leslie and Max Kent, son in law, Dean Rounds, grandchildren: Caroline Ruth, John David Ruth, Janna Kent and Jax Kent. Also survived by his siblings and their spouses: Philip and Sylvia Beard, Frank Beard, Deborah Holley, Becky Weeks, Donald and Judy Smith, Dorothy and Jerry Kemp, Carl Smith, Bill and Pat Wortham, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
After 30 years of home building, David retired as Vice President of John Cowart Homes. Enjoying the woods and outdoors, David was an avid turkey and deer hunter and achieved five consecutive grand slams and two double grand slams. David was a faithful friend and generous to those in need. His kindness will be missed by all. Flowers will be accepted, but donations to the Salvation Army in David’s name will be greatly appreciated.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 26, from 4 to 8 PM at Flanigan Funeral Home. The funeral will be Wednesday December 27 at 11 AM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Danny Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Buford, GA with Rev. Lamar Hansard officiating.
