Tudy Bowen

Obituary Date: Friday, December 15, 2017
Tudy Bowen, age 77, received her heavenly inheritance in Christ Jesus when He called her home on Friday, December 15, 2017.

She was born on October 22, 1940 in a farmhouse in Lafayette, Indiana to Claude G. Riley and Alberta M. McLaughlin Riley.  She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1958.

She married Wayne Bowen on September 18, 1962 in Lafayette at Congress Street Methodist Church.

Tudy was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary, and her son Gary.

Tudy will be remembered as a bright, shining light to those who knew and loved her. She always felt God’s presence in her life. In 1996 her husband Wayne spoke with her about accepting Jesus as her Savior, which she did. As the years went by she spoke often of her growing relationship with God, how important He was to her, and how He always watched over her. In 2010 the doctors discovered a hole in her heart that was difficult to repair. She expressed that the most rewarding part of the years that followed were being alive to grow more in Christ, enjoy her husband, children, grandchildren, sister, brother in-law, and dear friends. She loved laughing, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends.  She also enjoyed her activities at Bethlehem Baptist Church where she was a member.

Tudy will be remembered as a loving wife, mom, grandma, sister, aunt and friend.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 2:00pm at Hillside Memorial Chapel and Gardens with Pastor Tommy Stowe of Bethlehem Baptist Church officiating.  The family will greet friends from 12:00 to 2:00pm on the same day.

Tudy is survived by her husband Wayne, daughters Debbie (William) Sperin, Serena (David) Finn, Liz Bowen, and Debbie R. Bowen, grandchildren Abbott Sperin, Oliver (Jessica) Sperin, Ian (Anna) Sperin, Elliott Sperin, Andrew Finn, Austin Bowen, Chance Bowen, and Darby Bowen, and sister Janie (Willie) Oliver.
