Mary Virginia Keller Pitts, age 84, passed away Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017 at Brookside Commerce.
A daughter of the late Henry and Louise Voyles Keller, she was born March 15, 1933 in Stephens County, Georgia where she lived most of her life. She was a graduate of Stephens County High School. She was employed by LeTourneau and Wright’s Slacks for a number of years and was a homemaker. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and the Naomi Sunday School Class. She loved taking part in the Ebenezer Senior Ministry. Also, she sang for a number of years in the Singing Saints, which performed at events throughout the area. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard B. Pitts, sister, Hilda Keller Alexander Cagle and by a brother, Charles Keller.
Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Greg and Jane Simmons Pitts of Toccoa and Jeff Pitts of Anderson, South Carolina; sister, Ruth Keller Burgess of Hartwell, Georgia; grandsons, Patrick Pitts and his wife Erin Kuhlke Pitts and Preston Pitts of Sky Valley, Georgia; great granddaughter, Tabitha Marie Pitts of Gainesville; sister-in-law, Wanda Cabe Keller of Toccoa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 20, 2017, 3 O’clock p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Jerry Stowe and The Reverend Jerrell Beatty officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Patrick Pitts, Preston Pitts, Ed Voyles, Doug Burgess, Chuck Keller and Mark Adams.
The family will receive at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 19 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Online condolences can be made by visiting the website at www.acree-davisfh.com.
