Dr. Lawrence Joseph Sorohan (Larry) age 85 of Dahlonega, passed away peacefully at NEGMC on Friday morning December 15th, 2017.
Larry was the kindest, most loving and generous person.
Larry was born on May 31, 1932 in New Lexington, Ohio to Vern and Leoma Sorohan and graduated from the University of Dayton with a degree in Education. Later he received a PHD from Ohio University.
His teaching career included time at University of Dayton, UNC-Greensboro, and North Georgia College.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Sallie Joe Griffin Sorohan, whom he met almost 60 years ago when he approached her at a party and said "Hey, do you know where I can find John?" that was the opening line of the greatest love story. He is also survived by sons, Bryan of Gainesville, Ga; Jonathan if Ruthledge, Ga; Larry of New Orleans, LA; and Paul of Atlanta, GA.
Larry assisted in spearheading the Holly, to the building of a new library, to the establishment of Hancock Park. So the family asks in lieu of flowers donations be made to The Holly Theater, Lumpkin County Library, or a charity of your choice, in honor of Larry's legacy.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11am on Tuesday December 19, 2017 at St. Luke Catholic Church in Dahlonega. Family will receive friends on Monday 3pm until 6pm at Dahlonega Funeral Home.
