Mrs. ViElla Lewallen Whitfield Cheek, age 87 of Foster Street, Toccoa, Georgia passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Pruitt Health Toccoa.
A daughter of the late Johnnie and Alice Newsome Lewallen, she was born December 14, 1929 in Banks County, Georgia having lived most of her life in Stephens County. She was retired from Coats and Clark with 46 years of service and was a member of Zebulon Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Henry Whitfield, by her second husband, Richard Cheek, two sisters, Wilma Wilmot and Ruth Walden and by a brother, Noah Lewallen.
Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Wanda Whitfield Dunagan of Baldwin, Georgia and Nancy Hughes and husband Gary of Toccoa; son and daughter-in-law, John Henry Whitfield and wife, Denise of Bogart, Georgia; brother and sister-in-law, Elgar and Edna Lewallen of Eastanollee; grandchildren, Susan Marcus, Vanessa Burton, Michael Mize, Matthew Mize, Wendi Jordan and Alicia Maddox; nine great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be Saturday, December 16, 2017, 11 O’clock a.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Jerrell Beatty and The Reverend Ty Childers officiating.
