Mrs. Althea “Tia” Garey Dyer, age 69, of Clarkesville, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2017 at her residence.
Mrs. Dyer was born in Burlington, Vermont on September 9, 1948. She was preceded in death by father, Jack Garey and brother, Pete Garey. In her youth, she attended Cleveland United Methodist Church, where she was very active. Mrs. Dyer owned and operated the Yonah Burger for several years and later worked at Estate Sales. She loved cooking, her family, and taking care of others.
Survivors include husband, Mike Dyer, Clarkesville; sons and daughters in law, Marty and Mary Adams, Mark and Dena Adams, and Matt and Jessica Adams, all of Cleveland; mother, Beatrice Garey, Cleveland; step-son, Brian Dyer, Demorest; step-daughter, Kathy Maney, Demorest; sisters, Melissa Finnegan, Alpharetta and Kathy Mason, Maysville; brother and sister in law, Bruce and Anita Garey, Cleveland; grandchildren, J.C. Adams, Lelia Adams, Gabrielle Adams, Hannah Adams, Kelsey Adams, Maci Maney, and Griffin Maney; great-grandchild, Landon James Maney; and many other relatives.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 PM Tuesday, December 12, 2017 from The Chapel at Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Gary Hefner will officiate. Interment will follow in Yonah View Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday at the funeral home.
