Rev. Carlton Jones

Rev. Carlton Jones, ordained minister of the Baptist faith, age 81, of Dahlonega, GA passed away Friday, December 8, 2017 peacefully, surrounded by family, following an extended illness.

He was a lifelong resident of Lumpkin County and was respected and loved by his family, many friends, and former co-workers. He retired from Torrington after 20 plus years, and was a lifelong member of Damascus Baptist Church. Mr. Jones was called to preach September 24, 1975 and did his first sermon at Damascus Baptist Church October 12, 1975. He was ordained June 20, 1976.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Joyce Outz Jones; parents, J.B. and Radar Armour Jones; brothers, Bill Jones and his twin, Carl Jones; and sister, Betty Jo Jones Hester.

Carlton is survived by his brother, J.B. Jones; sister, Annie Sue Wiley; daughters, Angela Jones Delozier, Dahlonega, GA, and Jennifer Jones, Chatsworth, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Neal and Tiffany Thomas Jones, Lula, GA; sons, Alan jones and Jeffery Jones, Dahlonega, GA; grandchildren, Dalton and Alisha Adams Delozier, Chelsea Delozier, Courtnie Delozier, all of Dahlonega, GA; Audrey and Matt Chambers, Chatsworth, GA; Corey Paul, Caleb Parker, Dalton, GA; Cayla Jones, Carlie Jones, Megan Barton, Alex and Rory Scott, Lula, GA; great grandkids, Carlton Delozier, Adalyn Delozier, both of Dahlonega, GA; and Hadley Chambers and baby Chambers, Chatsworth, GA. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends also survive.

Funeral Services for Mr. Jones are scheduled for 1 PM Wednesday, December 13, 2017 in the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega, GA.

Pastor Wayne Turk, Pastor Neal Jones, Pastor Lyman Caldwell, and Pastor Jimmy Parker will officiate.

Interment will follow in Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega from 12 Noon until 8 PM on Tuesday, December 12, and again from 11 AM until service time on Wednesday.
