James Michael (Mike) Head

James Michael "Mike" Head, 69 of Gainesville passed away Thursday December 7, 2017 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Born in Gainesville, Ga., January 12, 1948, Mr. Head grew up in Atlanta and Dalton.  He attended Gordon Military College and was of the Methodist Faith.  He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his mother, Cidelia "Dee" Pierce Head, Gainesville; daughter, Kathy Park, Oceanside, California; grandson, Zain Reide Sweeney, Oceanside, California; granddaughter, SPC Kennedy Fairs and husband SGT Elijah Fairs, Fort Gordon Augusta, GA; great granddaughter, Ahzara Fairs, Augusta; brother-in-law, Dr. Scott Marx, Colorado.

Mr. Head is preceded in death by his wife, Christina Marx Head; father, James L. Head, Jr.; baby girl, Leigh Michelle; grandparents, Lee and Bernice Head and George and Margie Pierce.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday December 9, 2017 in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home with military honors.  Rev. Ruben Mauricio will officiate.  Interment will follow in the Alta Vista Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Salvation Army.
