Carol Jean (Murray) Gordon

Obituary Date: Monday, December 4, 2017

Carol Jean (Murray) Gordon, 67, of Dawsonville was made “perfect and complete, lacking in nothing” on December 4, 2017, when she passed away surrounded by the people who love her most in this world.

It would be impossible to surmise her life in feeble titles like mother, wife, friend, teacher or lover of Jesus.  She is all of these and so much more.  Born in Beaver Falls, PA to Edward and Emma Murray, she resided in Lawrenceville, GA for 37 years, then recently settled in Dawsonville.  Carol was loyal, generous, loving, wise, resourceful and creative.  Numerous stories could be told for each quality she embodied; but, the most defining characteristics of her life were most easily seen in her love for Jesus and her devotion to her family.  Whether she was sewing pillows for a prayer closet, teaching Sunday School and ESL or singing in the choir, you were sure to find Carol serving in her church most any day of the week.  However, volunteering her time to others or working a full time job never seemed to get in the way of loving her family, preparing home cooked meals, dominating at Scrabble or raising her children and letting them know their value and worth.  “Her children arise and call her blessed.”  Those who know and love Carol are grieved by the loss of her life in this world, but, we are comforted in knowing that she will live forever in eternity with her heavenly father, and that one day we will be reunited.  “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”  Lamentations 3:22-23.  Above all, Carol loved her family and poured her life into ensuring that each member thrived in their own.  She was a great example of faithfulness – in the workplace, with her friends, organizations to which she dedicated her time and most importantly, her relationship with God.  Carol had varied interests.  She enjoyed musicals, cooking shows, sci-fi and reading; music, baking, sewing and creating; playing board games and trivia; Bible study, the power of prayer, hymns and advocating for the unborn.

Carol is preceded in death by her son, Douglas Gordon.  She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Jerry Gordon; her daughter and son in law, Jennifer and Andy Kinsey, Dawsonville; her son and daughter in law, John and Kimberly Gordon, Lithia, FL; her daughter and son in law, Katie and Corey Hill, Hoschton, GA.  Carol was also blesses with 10 grandchildren, Johnathan Gordon, Isabelle, Elliott and Anderson Kinsey, Rylee and Bellamy Gordon and Lorelei, Jack, Felicity and Sloan Hill.

The family will receive friends Thursday December 7, 2017 from 12 noon until 2 at Bearden Funeral Home with interment to follow in Dawsonville Memorial Gardens.
