Harriet Bagwell Gilleland, 74, of Dawsonville passed away Saturday December 2, 2017 at Northside Hospital Forsyth following a sudden illness.
Born December 12, 1942 in Duluth to the late James “Dilmus” Bagwell and Jacquelyn Summerour, Harriet had been a resident of Dawsonville for most of her life. For a number of years she worked alongside her husband to establish and operate Gilleland and Son, Inc. Grading Contractors in Dawsonville. Serving as a CASA volunteer and hospital auxiliary volunteer, her main joy in life was helping others. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Herbert “Junior” Gilleland, son, James Day, grandson, Eric Conner, and sister, Maxine Garner.
Surviving are her daughters and sons in law, Samantha and Ted Graves, Dawsonville, Wendy and Johnny Holtzclaw, Dawsonville; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters and brother in law, Helen Jones, Duluth, Beth and Larry Bunten, Buford; a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday December 6, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. David Frix will officiate. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Duluth City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday December 5, 2017 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
