Holly Drown Hubbard passed away peacefully and gracefully on December 2nd, 2017 after losing her long and courageous battle with COPD. Holly is survived by her husband of 52 years, Clark Hubbard, and their two beautiful daughters, Danyel Hubbard Wheeler of Buford, Georgia and Brandi Hubbard of Atlanta, Georgia, and also by her brother, Daniel Drown of Greenville, SC.
Holly was born in Portland, Maine to Hollis Drown and Mary Condon Drown and lived her childhood years in the Saco and Kennebunk areas of Maine. The family transferred to the Greenville, South Carolina area in 1956 where Holly spent her high school years as a cheerleader at Paris High School in the Greenville suburb of Taylors. After high school, Holly moved to the Atlanta, Georgia area where she was employed by Delta Air Lines and met her future husband, Clark. They started their life together in the East Point suburb of Atlanta and subsequently lived in other Atlanta suburbs of Douglasville, Dunwoody, Lilburn, Lawrenceville and Buford. She also enjoyed their winter home in Venice, Florida.
Holly was a very active member of the East Point Jaycettes during the late 60’s and early 70’s. She enjoyed tennis and was active in ALTA and USTA tennis team competitions from 1975 to 1997. After retiring from tennis, she took up golf and enjoyed golfing with her many friends.
Holly was a homemaker when her children were young, but later worked part time for The Gillette Corporation as a Retail Merchandiser. After retiring from Gillette, Holly continued her part time merchandising work with other companies until she permanently retired in 2014.
Holly loved being on the beach soaking up the sunshine with a good book in one hand and a cold beer in the other while sitting with friends and family and enjoying good times. Holly also loved watching and cheering for her favorite football team – The University of Georgia Bulldogs.
Holly’s family will receive friends on Friday December 8th from 4 PM until 7 PM at Flanigan Funeral Home, 4400 South Lee Street, Buford, Georgia to be immediately followed by a reception at the Hubbard home in Buford.
An additional celebration will be held in Venice, Florida in January 2018.
