Rev. M. Gloria Gilstrap, 83, of Gainesville, Georgia passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, December 3, 2017 with family by her side.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Memorial Park Drive in Gainesville. Rev. Ronnie Carder will officiate the funeral service which is scheduled for Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 2:00 pm in Memorial Park Chapel.
Rev. Gilstrap was born in Atlanta, on December 11, 1933. She was the youngest daughter of the late Claude Lee Sheffield and Myrtle Kathrine Stephens. Rev. Gilstrap then married Rev. L.G. Gilstrap on November 6, 1954. Together, the couple furthered their ministry and assisted in building numerous churches through their work as missionaries and ministers for the Assembly of God. Rev. Gilstrap also worked for the United States Postal Service in Murrayville, Georgia. After retiring from the Post Office, Rev. Gilstrap devoted her life full-time to her ministry. Most recently, Rev. Gilstrap was the founder and Pastor of New Hope Ministries in Gainesville, Georgia. Rev. Gilstrap was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Claudia Nix and brother Charles “Sonny” Malphus.
Rev. Gilstrap is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Debi and Ronnie Carder, Niece, Claudia (Ronnie) Seabolt, Grandchildren; Heather and Tony Coggins, Carol Bennett Dale. Great-Grandchildren; Priscilla Magnus, Claudia “CJ” Magnus, Tony Coggins, Jr. and Andrew Dale. She is also survived by many other nieces, nephews and close family and friends.
