Mr. Burt Walden Ashe, age 84, of Dahlonega, passed away Monday, December 4, 2017.
Mr. Ashe was a native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County. He was born on January 11, 1933 to the late H.A. and Beulah Smith Ashe. He was also preceded in death by his wife Barbara Ashe and several half siblings. Mr. Ashe was a former assistant Magistrate Judge in Lumpkin County. He worked as a DJ for WRWH AM 1350 and in 1994 received the small market DJ of the year award by The Singing News fan awards. Mr. Ashe loved to sing Southern Gospel music. He sang with The Master Quartet, The Song Masters, and The Goss Brothers. Mr. Ashe worked at Pine Tree for many years.
Survivors include his daughter Sharon Ashe, Dawsonville; brother in law and sister in law, J.W. and Betty Wilson, North Carolina; brother in law Johnny Wilson, Canton; and several cousins.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 AM Thursday, December 7, 2017 in Banister Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Kevin Holman and the Rev. Tony Howard will officiate. Interment will follow in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
