Wiley Edward Dorminy, Jr

Obituary Date: Monday, November 27, 2017

Mr. Wiley Edward Dorminy, Jr., age 85 of Flowery Branch, passed away on November 27, 2017 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, December 1, 2017 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel. Rev. David Simpson will be officiating. Interment will be held in Jonesboro, Georgia. The family will receive friends from 5:00pm-7:00pm on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the funeral home.

Ed was born in Moultrie GA April 9, 1932 to the late Ed Dorminy, Sr. and the late Hazel Brock Dorminy.  He retired after 35 years in the automotive battery business. He began working at Prestolite Battery in 1955 and worked his way from the manufacturing line to the plant manager. After 12 years there, he spent the next 11 years at GNB Technologies. There he transferred to Regional Sales Manager and moved his family back to Georgia. Ed also worked for Exide Technologies for 12 years where he was a sales manager, manufacturing consultant and started Atlanta Sales Branch Distribution Center.

After retiring, Ed went on to start Courier Express, a business delivering flowers across the Southeast. He also worked part time for Victory Paper in Gainesville. With his “second retirement,” Ed started up two LED lighting companies, Southern LED and Energy Solutions LLC.

With his "second retirement" he started up two LED lighting companies Southern LED and Energy Solutions LLC. Ed was a Korean War Veteran, serving with the United States Air Force from 1951-1955.

Ed was a member of Lanier Christian Church in Gainesville, Ministered by Ed's dear friend Rev. David Simpson.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Pam Dorminy and brother Bill Dorminy.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Jackie Dorminy; daughter and son-in-law Cindy and Tim Bynum; son Ed Dorminy II; grandsons Rexon Bynum and Kenny Bynum; granddaughters Bonnie Graham, Grace Dorminy, Caroline Dorminy and Mary Dorminy; great-granddaughters Ashley Bynum, Haley Bynum and Hattie Graham.
