Barrett Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mrs. Emily Nell Kircher, age 71 of Cleveland. Emily passed away Sunday, November 19, 2017.
Emily was born in Leesburg, Florida on September 24, 1945 to the late James Sansbury and Gwen Smith Sansbury. She had lived in Northeast Georgia for the past fifteen years and will be remembered as a woman who loved and served her God her entire life through service, healing and love for others. Emily grew up in Gainesville, FL and graduated GHS. Later, she completed the nursing program at Charity Hospital in New Orleans and served on staff there for some two years following graduation. She and her previous husband moved to Arizona where she filled a hospital position, later she would move to the US Virgin Islands, where she worked at the local hospital, while living on a boat in St. Thomas harbor and giving birth to her two children. Later, Emily would travel to Jacksonville Beach where she served and proudly assisted in the design of an intensive care unit. She returned to Gainesville and served in the Emergency Department of UOFL Teaching Hospital/ Shands (UF Health Shands Hospital). Following her retirement, Emily worked with UOF Oral Surgery Center. Along with her current husband, Emily moved to Toccoa to be near her grandsons, which renamed her “Mimmie”, and went camping, kayaking and exploring in Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina while working with Amedisys Home Health in Toccoa. After briefly working with a home health agency in Cleveland, Georgia, Emily and her husband traveled Georgia and North Carolina doing camp hoisting at various parks, while truly devoting themselves to one another.
Emily is survived by her loving husband of 20 years, Ken Kircher, Cleveland; daughter, Erica Woodall (Kevin) of Shelby,NC and son, Eric Mulkey of Arizona as well as her seven grandsons
A gathering of friends for Emily is scheduled for Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 3 to 5pm. It is requested that flowers be omitted and that memorial donations be made in memory of Emily to the Virgin Islands Relief Fund Inc., 111 East Dover St., Easton, Maryland 21601 or online at www.virginislandrelief.org
