Walter Ivester Holbrook

Walter Ivester Holbrook, age 85, of Clarkesville passed away Sunday, November 19, 2017.

Born in Habersham County on March 28, 1932, Mr. Holbrook was the son of the late Wilmer H. and Elva Smith Holbrook, Sr.   Mr. Holbrook was a United States Navy Veteran having served during the Korean War and he was retired from Coca-Cola as the Cornelia Sales Manager.   Mr. Holbrook was a member and deacon of Mt. Airy Baptist Church and Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720.  In addition, he was a Master Mason and member of Mt. Airy Lodge #141 F&AM.   In addition to his parents, Mr. Holbrook is preceded in death by brothers Charlie, Cecil, Roy, Wilmer, Jr., Robert, and Marvin Holbrook and sisters Marie Holbrook Price and Lorene Holbrook Wallis.

Survivors include his wife Dorothy Stonecypher Holbrook of Clarkesville, daughter Frieda Whitworth of Toccoa, son and daughter in law Mitch and Wyndee Holbrook of San Antonio, Texas, grandchildren Niki McIntyre (Avery), Lane Thomas Holbrook (Heather), and Brook Whitworth, great grandchildren Draven Sawall, Derrick McIntyre, and Jacob McIntyre, sister in law Adron Stonecypher of Clarkesville and brother in law Byard Roper, Jr. of Clarkesville.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Mt. Airy Baptist Church.  Rev. Butch Franklin, Rev. Mitch Holbrook, Rev. Wyndee Holbrook, and Rev. Ray Turpin will officiate with interment to follow the service in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Cemetery with full military honors provided by the United States Navy and Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 from 2-4 PM and from 6-8 PM.
