Mattie “Girlie” Mae Scott, age 85, of Dahlonega passed away, Saturday, November 18, 2017.
Mrs. Scott was a native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County. She was born on May 26, 1932 to the late Charles Griffin Jr. and Florence Bragg Abercrombie. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Paul Sr.; husband Hershel Scott; sons Charles Tony Floyd; George Floyd; daughter Jeanette Grindle; daughter in law Barbara Abercrombie; granddaughters Rhonda Abercrombie; Kelly Sanders; sisters Nellie McDonald; Margaret Rogers; brothers Bill Abercrombie; Walter Abercrombie; C.G. Abercrombie; and Elmer Abercrombie. Mrs. Scott was retired from Fieldale after many years. She will forever be remembered for having the ability to light up a room. Mrs. Scott was a beautiful person inside and out. Her family will forever cherish her witty personality, her jokes, and especially her one-liners. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter Judy Sanders, Toccoa; sons Larry Abercrombie, Gainesville; David Floyd, Dahlonega; Ralph Paul Jr., Winder; Joseph Floyd, Dahlonega; brothers Ben Abercrombie, Dahlonega; Gary Abercrombie, Bel Air, TX; Tommie Abercrombie, Dahlonega; Before Mrs. Scott’s passing there where 5 living generations of her family so there are numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 P.M. Tuesday, November 21, 2017 in Banister Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Scott Collett will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12-2 Tuesday at the funeral home.
