Mr. Dennis Coker, 91, of Lynnville, TN went to be with our Lord on November 16, 2017, with his family by his side.
Mr. Coker was born on July 2, 1926 in Homer, Georgia to Rex and Addie Coker. In 1944 he graduated from Lyman Hall High School in Gainesville, Georgia. After high school, he was drafted into the US Army. He proudly served in the European Theater.
He was a loyal employee of JC Penny for over 40 years. He retired to the farm where he enjoyed growing plants.
He is preceded in death by his wife Eleanor Coker; parents, Rex and Addie Coker; daughter, Delores Wilkinson; sisters, Carolyn Coker, LaNelle Farmer and Rexann Hulsey; and brother, Quillan Coker.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Sunday November 19, at Candler United Methodist Church. The Rev. Geoff Grubbs will officiate. Interment will follow at Alta Vista Cemetery in Gainesville, Georgia.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday at Ward’s Funeral Home.
Survivors include son, Michael (Peggy) of Lynnville, Tennessee. Sister, Barbara (Bill) Hames of Roanoke, Virginia; brother Ralph (Kathy) Coker of Corpus Christi, TX; grandchildren, Danielle, Tilley and Ashley (Rey) all of Tennessee. He is also survived by nine
great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
