Russell Olin Spors, age 72, of Dawsonville, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2017.
Mr. Spors was born in Murphysboro, IL on December 17, 1944 to the late Russell and Geraldine Spors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father Stanley Blue. He was the owner of Handyman Services. As a handyman, Mr. Spors was able to fix and build just about anything. He loved a hard day’s work and was known for outworking most men. Mr. Spors was proud to have worked at Uniroyal Tire Company in Michigan until the company closed. He will forever be remembered for the stories he loved to tell. Mr. Spors found great enjoyment in playing the guitar.
Survivors include his wife Karen Spors, Dawsonville; daughter and son in law Maria and Michael Peruzzi, Rochester Hills, MI; son and daughter in law Richard and Kirstan Spors, Clinton Township, MI; son Bryan Spors, Roseville, MI; sons and daughters in law Michael and Brandy Root, Dahlonega; Gerald Sonnichsen and Melissa Chewning, Flowery Branch; daughter and son in law Kari and Marcos Garcia, Dawsonville; sister Kathy Dickerson, Chesterfield, MI; and 14 grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 PM Saturday, November 18, 2017 in Banister Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Tony Holtzclaw will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday at the funeral home.
