Howard C. Bruce Sr

Obituary Date: Thursday, November 16, 2017

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday November 18, 2017 at Ward’s Funeral Home Chapel for Howard C. Bruce Sr., age 88 of Gainesville. The Rev. Michael McIntyre will officiate. Interment will follow at Straightway Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Bruce passed away peacefully at his
daughter’s residence Thursday November 16, 2017.

Mr. Bruce was born in Hall County to the late Early Clifton Bruce and Minnie Garrison Bruce. Howard was a corporal in the U.S. Army. He
honorably served his country on the front lines of the Korean War. He returned to continue working for Royal Typewriter Company. There he
met the love of his life, Faye. He later went to work for Henry C. Beck Construction Company from which he retired in 1994. He was known
to many as “The Ski King” for his favorite past time, skiing, but he really enjoyed farming. He will be remembered for his generous heart,
helping hands, and his John Deere tractor. He was a member of Laborer’s Local Union #438 and Straightway Baptist Church. He was
preceded in death by his wife, Faye Bruce, son, Clifton Bruce, and 6 siblings, Norman Bruce, Beatrice Stone, Gene, Amanda, Hardy and Louise Bruce.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Michael McIntyre, Clermont, son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Vera Bruce, Gainesville,
daughter-in-law, Shirley Bruce, Lula, 6 grandchildren, Earl Bruce, Charla Burger, Joshua and Jacob McIntyre, Audrey and Emily Bruce, 11
great grandchildren and several loving nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank everyone for the food, love and prayers; Hospice of Northeast GA for their care; Matt and Angie
Swindler for being there to help Pop whenever needed; but above all, we would like to thank GOD for making him our “Pops”.
