Sue Hicks, age 78 of Cleveland, GA formerly of Knoxville/Gatlinburg, TN passed away on November 15, 2017 surrounded by her loved ones. Sue was born in Knoxville, TN, graduated from Young High School, The University of TN and received a Masters from Georgia State University. She served as Captain in the USArmy then pursued her passion of teaching in the DeKalb County, GA and Knox County, TN school systems. She was a loving person who loved laughter, sports, helping others, and feeding all the stray animals. Sue was of the Catholic faith. She was preceded in death by her Mother, Ann Doyle Hicks, and sisters Jane Sims and Patricia Aitken. She is survived by her nieces Judy Rice and Terry Long, and by nephews Patrick Sims, Tony Sims, and Stephen Aitken, 6 great nieces and 1 great nephew, and by long-time friend, Mary Ann Hitchcock. The family would like to thank the Intensive Care Staff and Hospice Staff of Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Inc.
A memorial will be determined by her loving family and friends. Donations can be made to Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainseville, GA or Meals on Wheels, White County.
