Ernest Dean Young

Ernest Dean Young, 92 of Murrayville passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

A lifelong resident of Hall County, Mr. Young was the son of the late John Wiley and Bertha Peck Young.  He was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.  Mr. Young served in the United States Army during World War II and retired from Swift & Company.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Mary Smith Young, Murrayville; sons and daughters-in-law, Dean and Barbara Young, Dwayne and Jo Ellen Young, both of Murrayville; daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Tony Burkhalter, of Lula; 5 grandchildren, Devon, Hannah, Nashea, Shane, and Brandy; 4 great grandchildren and a number of great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2017 at Mt Vernon Baptist Church.  Rev. Steve Baker and Rev. Kevin Woody will officiate.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, November 16, 2017 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m.

The family extends a special thank you to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Hospice for the wonderful job they did while taking care of Ernest.
