Melvin Fortner, age 74, of Dahlonega, passed away Friday, November 10, 2017.
Mr. Fortner was born in Lumpkin County the son of the late Raliegh and Bonnie Grizzle Fortner. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janie Pardue Fortner. Mr. Fortner was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and attended Philippi Baptist Church. He was employed with the Torrington Company for thirty-plus years.
Survivors include his son and daughter in law, Mark and Melanie Fortner, Dahlonega; daughter and son in law, Vickie and Roy Belville, Dahlonega; grandchildren, Jordan Fortner, Shane Fortner, Logan Fortner; sisters and brothers in law, Virginia and Neal Gilreath, Cleveland, and Mildred and Albert Vaughters, Gainesville.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Jimmy Sargent, the Rev. Jason Fuller and the Rev. Brian Sutton will officiate. Burial will follow at Gateway Memory Park.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
