Mrs. Nancy Ethel "Mamo" Bristol, age 98 of Sautee, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2017.
Mrs. Bristol was born on October 12, 1919, in Habersham County, to the late Jasper Daniel Holcomb and Naomi Louisa Smith Holcomb. She lived in Sautee most of her life and was known in the community as a woman who loved working in her flowers, doing her crossword puzzles, knitting, and reading. However, her real joy was found in spending time with her family. While she was a wonderful housewife and mother, Mrs. Bristol also worked for a number of years at Hosiery Mill in Helen and later with Orbit Manufacturing. She loved her church and was a longtime member of Nacoochee United Methodist Church, where she served as Sunday School teacher for a number of years. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gail Bristol; daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Mack "Bud" Blackburn; grandson, Korry Blackburn; sisters, Mae Knight, Pauline (Polly) Rogers, Pearl Allen, Oma Lee Crawford; brothers, Homer Holcomb and John Daniel "JD" Holcomb.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda (Lynn) Watson, Sautee; grandchildren, Kenny and Kim Blackburn, Rick and Connie Blackburn and Cindy Watson; great grandchildren, Shane Blackburn, Payton Blackburn; great-great grandchildren, Jack Blackburn, Madison Blackburn, and Luke Blackburn.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 12, 2017 at the chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Brent Holcomb will officiate. A private interment will follow at Nacoochee United Methodist Church Cemetery on Monday.
