Thomas Leon Mitchell

Thomas Leon Mitchell, age 79, of Flowery Branch, GA passed away Saturday November 4, 2017. He loved the Lord, his family, wood working, loved to help people, loved motorcycles, the mountains, the beach, and to travel.  Tom worked for Grady Health System for 15 years and Gwinnett Hospital System for 22  years. Survivors include his wife Rebecca Edwards Mitchell; sons Mark S. Mitchell and wife Sandra of Maple Valley, WA, Thomas M. Mitchell and wife Joyce of Hoschton, GA, Kevin D. Durkee of Roswell, GA; daughters Anni Matthews and husband Brian of Evans, GA, Shannon Davis and husband Dale of St. Augustine, Fl; brother James Mitchell and wife Jo of Margate, FL, sister Joan Kenipe and husband Ken of Indianapolis, IN; his honorary daughter Carla Kinney of Winder, GA, his Westie named Maxwell; 15 grandchildren, Ashley, Mark, Chelsea, Celia, T.J., Zoe, Zachary, Jacob, Adelyn, Alexis, William, Kaine, Emma, London and Lily; and 6 great grandchildren, eSean, Bella, Jayden, Sophia, J.T. and Raylan. Tom was preceded in death by his son Ryan M. Durkee and sister Norman Jean Mitchell. Memorial Services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Lawson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service at the funeral home.
