Harold Butts, age 87, of Demorest passed away Monday, November 6, 2017.
Harold was born in Habersham County to the late John F. Butts and Minnie Brewster Butts. He proudly served in the United States Navy for 10 years and was a member of VFW Post 7720 Cornelia. Harold was also a member of the Woodmen of the World.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, J.C. Butts, George William Butts, Corbett Eugene Butts, Minnie Elene “Sissie” Stewart, Mary Correinna “Rennie” Barrett, Sarah Montine Davis, Ruth Ione Butts, and Margie Ronella Butts.
He is survived by his son, Jeffery Butts of Columbia, South Carolina; two daughters, Gwen Bell of Gainesville and Gena Funk (Marty) of Mt. Airy; one grandson, Bradley Michael Ward (Brooklyn) of Clermont; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 P.M. Tuesday at Hillside.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 8, 2017 in Hillside Memorial Chapel. Pastor Phil Ferguson will officiate. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow in Clemons Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Lula. Honors will be rendered by the United States Navy and the VFW Post 7720.
